Power Supply Replacement

To replace the power supply, shut down the system, remove power, remove the system cover, refer to the figure, and perform the following procedure:

  1. Put on your ESD wriststrap.
  2. Disconnect the power cables from the drives.
  3. Disconnect power cable P1 from J9 on the riser card. (You may have to remove a PCI/ISA option card.)
  4. Disconnect power cable P2 from J1 on the riser card.
  5. From the rear of the system, remove the four screws securing the power supply to the chassis.
  6. Remove the upper screw that secures the internal storage bay bracket.
  7. Remove the Ethernet adapter card (one screw) and rest it in the bottom of the chassis (leave the cable connected).
  8. Remove the audio adapter card (one screw) and rest it in the bottom of the chassis (leave the cable connected).
  9. Slide the power supply slightly forward and then lift it out the side while guiding the cable harness.
  10. Insert the new power supply into the system. Ensure that the two tabs on the bottom engage the chassis shelf.
  11. Secure the power supply with four screws from the rear of the system.
  12. Replace the upper screw that secures the internal storage bay bracket.
  13. Replace the audio adapter card (one screw).
  14. Replace the Ethernet adapter card (one screw).
  15. Connect the power cable P1 to J9 on the riser card.
  16. Connect the power cable P2 to J1 on the riser card.
  17. Connect the remaining power cables to the drives, as required.
